C is a high level language or low level language

No, it is the other way round.
Low level is near to the machine. High level is better/easier to read for the user.
Imagine like this:
CPU at the very bottom, then low (low=near to CPU), then high level languages (high above CPU) then the user who is highest and looks down đ
