There's a huge difference between those two books, C++ Primer by Stanley B.Lippman C++ Primer Plus by Stephen Prata The first book has a very concrete and realistic approach to teach the core components of the language with the orientation towards the object oriented programming. In addition to that, the book tries its best to cover the essentials of the STL, as well. This book is best for beginners and intermediate programmers. Second book has a bad reputation among the professionals. I've read that a bit, though. Wasn't bad but not good as the first one. To choose your material confidently, refer to the following link https://stackoverflow.com/questions/388242/the-definitive-c-book-guide-and-list

Very much worthy. I have the book as well, I enjoy using it, because its very clear to understand. You might also like to check out ::"C Primer Plus ". Although a slightly better book would be "C++ For Everyone" by Cay Hortsmann It's a highly graphical book
