HTML makes up the structure of the web page. CSS helps with the formatting such as colors and alignment. While a lot of the things in CSS can be applied individually to parts of your HTML, it helps to clean up the code A LOT. Instead of writing three lines of style with each heading, you can just refer to the CSS document that will pull that style into your HTML document.
