about lists in python

anyone can told me if lists in python are equivalent to sets theory in math?

Jean there is set in python which is equivalent to set theory in math.list is not.
e.g
x={1,2,3,4,5} #make a set in python.
you can do everything with it like intersection,union two sets,setA-setB etc.
