XP is only calculated on the challenges you engage in, according to the rating system.

Bior Ajang Some people are here to actually follow the courses and have no interest in challenges or dont have the knowledge yet. You have to respect that :)

Me too I have always wanted to ask this question. Yesterday I challenged someone 15 times and all he did was to decline all of them!

I feel you Danstan Ongubo. Really sad to "effortly" and keenly complete 15 challenges hoping to raise your XP and level only to be decline.
Marcia com'on there's noway soemone cant even try a half way.

Lol, could you people seriously not find anyone else to pick on than the same person 15 times? Any frequency past two declines in a row and you're basically just being predatory and wasting your own time. Maybe the person declining you actually has a life.

I think others "chicken out" when you're several levels higher than them which is absolutely normal. One thing they fail to realize is that challenging these people gives you more XP than challenging fellow levellers! If you get 5 correct vs someone in Platinum, for example, you're assured of higher XP as compared to the same scenario against say fellow level 1,2,3. Anyone can challenge whomever they wish and can decline challenges they don't want to compete in and that's the bottom line. Doesn't feel good but it's a choice to be respected. That's why Sololearn has allowed us to hide languages we don't want to be challenged for. Sadly, not all of us have used that feature.

Janningâ 15 times is so normal amongst many people here. Check out this thread

Danstan Ongubo ,
Challenging the same willing participant 15 times is normal. Challenging the same unwilling participant 15 times (especially over a short period of time) indicates a need for psychotherapy.
