JavaScript for back end?

Do i need to learn JavaScript , if i want to become a back end developer?

Is there any reason to learn JS for it , without NodeJs?

Well if you want to use NodeJS, then you need a good understanding of JavaScript. But you don't have to study Javascript just because you want to be a backend developer. You could use python, java, ruby etc for backend.

All the same you will definitely need to have appreciable knowledge in whatever programming language you choose for the backend.
