What will be the future of programmers?

Is it possible to develop supercomputer who will write programmes? And there will be no need of programmers. But i think that will be very difficult .But in past no one can think that aeroplanes, telephones, rockets can also be developed. Or There will be lot of needs of programmers as we are moving in computer age.. ( Sorry for Grammatical mistakes )..

I think that our future will be awesome if field of programming is concerned... we will be a part of that revolutionary age in which humans will become a multi planetary species...also the life on earth will get changed drastically... & all of this won't be possible without our contributions... we have our creative roles to play so that the human race reach new golden heights... So all the best to u guys...we are going to become a part of the Golden age of human history... a bright future is awaiting for us...keep going... don't stop...be hopeful... :-)

AI able to write program makes sense , though what may be the outcome the programmer who creates this AI will be the greatest (living legend)

It is possible but not only software is made a supercomputer, It also requires knowledge in hardware

What will most likely happen is that the world will end up being controlled by a few really gifted programmers who will maintain all the coding machines and robots that will replace manual workers. If you think that only humans can create things, don't forget that they always base it on previous human knowledge. With neural networks we can train machines to evolve on their own. Skynet will probably never happen but it's always a possibility.

In a few decades there shall be a total programmer domination over the entire world. Software's the FUTURE!

There are already AI's that can code programs so it is very possible that programmers will be out of work in the near future...

we are moving to an era where robotics and artificial intelligence will be the order of the day. an era where nano technology will just be a norm. programmers are thus the epitome of all future technologies, they are the drivers and the brains to technologies which has not yet been discovered...

no program or machine can be as creative as a human being, if any machine kills people for no reason in the future the will the deed of a PROGRAMMER, the person who told to do so. not because it realized it's existence or what the f ever theory people have in mind. it takes god-like power to create something from nothing.

First Thing is It will make us more lazy! that we will try to find those things which actually doesn't exist! But it will be a big revolution for we people or for a common man!! And you can think what type of revolution am talking about!

We will develop artificial intelligence, and then robots will take over, and kill all humans (just like Bender wanted).

Artificial consciousness will be created by human beings. You only have to accept two things: firstly, that there is nothing magical about human consciousness. Secondly, that we will continue to make technological advancements. Assuming we don't blow ourselves up in the meantime, it's just a matter of time.

This discussion reminded me what Janis Varufakis said about possible future. The possibilities are two Star Treck like utopia or Matrix like distopia. Which will came true will depands on all of us.

The human brain is a very powerful 3D computer, so I hope it will take some time until we are replaced...😀

umm... basicly computer not human. it does'n have a mind and heart. the cleverest and great AI is did't have thats gift. cumputers can programed but they did't have responsibility for what they have do. computer can change the rule or he maybe dont know that rule. because the what created never be same like the creator.

mostly nothing is impossible. There are many generations to come that will do that. Noticing it takes I think 10000 years to build all the foundation of knowledge, less 100 years to build theories on computers. What if thousands or millions of years have come, do you imagine that.

Programming will be the longest living career. In the post-singularity age,(somewhere in the not so far future ~2040 to 2050) no job vacancies will be available because computers with rapidly evolving artificial intelligence will have dominated. If you think this is too fictitious to be real go to google right now and type 'watson defeats doctors'. Lucky for us, the singularity also represents growth in fields like nano technology which means we will be able to attach super tiny devices to our bodies. This may give us amazing abilities (definitely not laser eyes) that may improve our overall intelligence and control but remember those are a lot of 'maybes'.

AI will replace all human labour. The questions are whether it will comply to our demands or if it will value our existence at all. It might just up and leave into the cosmos. Or it might destroy us simply because we got in its way. Sam Harris has a lot of interesting discussion on this topic.
