There is something in tech industry called the Iron Triangle. It consists of three sides, resources, time, and complexity. Since your resources are fixed (at one developer) that means that you can choose which of the two sides you want to adjust. If the complexity is small, the time will be small, the more complex, the longer it will take.

If you start with a framework that already has social media features (or has modules/plugins that support it) such as WordPress the process can take only a few weeks depending on how much you customize the experience.
