Is Dreamweaver still a popular tool for building websites?

How popular is Adobe Dreamweaver as a website development tool?

They seem to have a graphical design editor as well as a code editor. So it looks like it's not completely free from coding. They seem to say that the latest versions support javascript, php etc. so Paul I think it's not just for static websites.

I found that using a content management tool is still a bit more popular than direct coding (approx. 53%:47%) but WordPress is a lot more popular these days than Dreamweaver. And yes, I believe Adobe acquired Macromedia over a decade ago.

All my programmer staffs including me choose to use VScode, Atom or Sublime Text, even though Adobe has offered my company a free version of latest Dreamweaver.

Jahjah are you a professional web developer? If Notepad++ is enough for you, then it suggests to me that there is not much added value in tools like Dreamweaver other than for non programmers who want to build websites. Anyway, WordPress seems to be a lot more popular than Dreamweaver these days.

You can only build static Websites with a fixed size.

Sonic i was doing php work and classic ASP work when I was working in Dreamweaver. So troubleshooting for those languages can only occur during runtime. Also liked the file manager (for ftp access).

But working in Visual Studio now, doing c# / mvc. Enjoyed that there is intellisense.

Haven't met a single person who uses it. But they keep making new versions so it must be somewhat popular?

One SoloLearner asked me to rip a copy of Dreamweaver for him/her once. I told him/her to just sign up for the free trial if he/she met the age requirements for it. 😅 Good times.

I started to build webpages with Dreamweaver about... 18 years ago! Wow! It was Macromedia Dreamweaver at that time, not Adobe) It's a little embarrassing that you can create a site just using text editor, you know, no one using wysiwyg-editors anymore)

I had access to Dreamweaver for many years because my employer was able to get cheaper access to it. I enjoyed that there was the Design View and Code View to look at.

It was a good tool, but these days, Notepad++ (free tool) is sufficient enough for me.

project management is quite convenient, but it can be done with other ides as well e. g.. vscode. but i had a good time with it doing complex dynamic web projects

Me, personally, I for one like Dreamweaver. But I also like Expression, & a few of the others, too, incidentally. However, I am still very much interested in coding, as well.
