Look you need to understand whats best mean here..Best in todays modern day compatibility or functionality or what...
You can start with any language because its not the language that you need to learn its the "idea that you need to develop ,to solve day to day problems".
Because once you hve idea and logic to solve a particular problem in any field than its only the syntax that you need to learn that's it.And you'll gradually learn by practicing and working again and again on the language.
My pick would be start from C language as it is the most fundamental programming language and rest is up to your choice.
Happy Coding mate!

There is no 'best language' and which is easiest to learn is also subjective. But i heard python is a great starting point

No language is easy, no language is tough.
It's all depends upon you.

No such thing as the "best language" exists. You can start will either of C, C++ or Java anyway.

For programming, definitely learn Python first. You can either start bottom-up (more easily) by learning Python first, or start top-down (more harder) by learning C/C++ first, which will make the rest of the programming languages easier to understand and learn. Truly though, just start with any language you desire to learn; at the end of the day it's mostly irrelevant which one you pick, just start coding in one to understand the logic of programming. Once you've mastered one language (and I recommend you learn one that is in use and/or popular, such as Python or C++), the rest will be easier to learn.
