Media queries

So Iā€™m working in WordPress, and I made the mistake of coding desktop first. I am a beginner coder and of course I am still learning. However, I do believe I have some what of a good understanding of media queries. So In WordPress my media queries arenā€™t working and keep getting overrun by the built in media queries for the theme Iā€™m using. Any suggestions on the proper way to make my breakpoints. I have knowledge in css, html, and JavaScript and just learned React but not fully fluent. Please helpšŸ˜

This probably comes way later than would have been helpful to you, but usually I just reach out to the template developer and ask them how to override their broken stuff. Each WordPress template should have contact info for support.
