Whats the Difference between hidden border and no border (Default) ?

Whats the Difference between hidden border and no border (Default) ?...if not why was hidden border invented ?

the hidden still exists and still takes up space, you just can’t see it. its handy if you use it to make spaces between loads of pictures

I think the difference is the same as with hidden display and none display which is that hidden still exists but isnt visible (still takes up space) and with none it doesnt exist at all.
