If 6.0 ever gets released, you would probably be able to find it announced as a project here: https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/ Where this part might change: https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/introduction.html#is-this-html5? Then as a browser standard here: https://www.w3.org/standards/techs/html But so far, all we have is this fake news: https://www.sololearn.com/Discuss/748297/?ref=app

So there are two standards bodies doing HTML: The WHATWG and the W3C. - The WHATWG continuously updates the HTML standard, with no major versions. They call it the "living standard" and so for them there is no HTML5 or HTML6, just HTML in a github repo. - The W3C might propose a HTML6 standard at some point, as they have with HTML4 and 5, 5.1 and 5.2. Thing is, everybody follows the WHATWG standard, and browser vendors don't want to wait for new versions. The W3C usually just copies the WHATWG standard anyway and does little to no own work. So... just call it HTML and you'll be fine.
