What is C++ good for?

Hi! I’m trying to learn C++, but don’t know much about it. I’m planning on making an RPG game, similar to the style of EarthBound (Mother) or Undertale. I want to use a good program, and I’ve herd C++ is good for making games. I’m new to code, and yes, I do know I’m in over my head, but I want to at least try. If someone could tell me the specifics of the program, that would be great. If you think there is a program that would be better suited for the game, that would be appreciated as well. Thanks! :)

C++  is a general-purpose programming language. It has imperative, object-oriented and genericprogramming features, while also providing facilities for low-level memory manipulation.  C++ has also been found useful in many other contexts, with key strengths being software infrastructure and resource-constrained applications,including desktop applications, servers (e.g. e-commerce, Web search or SQL servers), and performance-critical applications (e.g. telephone switches or space probes).

Depends more the tools and aplication than the language, If is web game probably you wanna stick with javascript. If not you want to see what tools you want to use. Like Unity is easy for beginners and 2d games but uses C#. Unreal Engine is more complicated is good for 3d. And uses C++.

True C++ is used for making games especially in Unreal Engine game development . But if you feel it is difficult you can you can learn c# which is also used for making games using Unity engines
