Advice wanted!!

Question

I want to become a games dev, and my tutor says i need to build a portfolio. I have knowledge in python and thats about it. What are some easier ways to make games in better languages, while learning said language, as opposed to going in headstrong and giving up.

c# and c++ are good in game making whether for android or PC
JS is also good for web game development
