How do you approach a problem while programming?

I personally break the problem down into smaller problems and either visual that in my head as I code every section or write sort bullet point notes

I try my best to keep my cool when facing a problem,split it into smaller parts,write simple tests for things i can't figure out,If i get frustrated i just get away from it for a couple minutes or just watch anime or something...
