How to store preferences xml file inside project with relative path?

I using java and netbeans, i want to store preferences xml file inside my project, how can i do that?

Preferences pref = Preferences.user......

Or help me to save key and value data in a xml file.

i think there is no way to store any where you want, just store in regedit.
