Main difference between IOS kernel and android kernel? Why both conserve different memory?

Since both OSes take different bytes of RAM so my question is that why it is so?

I am not familiar with Ios but Android was developed as an OS specifically for mobile devices that have significsntly less memory than computers. This is why it has a small memory 'footprint'.
