What is the use of head tag??

It's for holding information about the page. For example, the title tag is in there. Meta tags, styles, occasionally scripts. It's all the non display type stuff mostly.

The <head> element is a container which provides general information (meta data). You can give a title of your webpage using <title> tag within <head> tag.
