how do you create a custom mime type in android?

Question

i have added all mimetypes for .mpp file extensions but it is still unavailable in my react native document picker. the mimetype in the response is application/octet-stream, but i dont want to add that mimetype because then all files will be available in the picker. i think i have to make a custom mimetype but not sure how to do this. cant find a good resource online to explain it either.
