SoloLearn Advice

I just started last week and have made my way through the SQL fundamentals and partway through Ruby. I have some random background in HTML, Javascript, and R (at least once upon a time, I did) I feel like SoloLearn offers a lot of choices to learn - the “play” tab, challenges, assignments, etc... but I don’t feel like I could successfully complete any of them at this point. Am I wrong? If not, what would you recommend finishing before jumping into those? I can imagine I’ll lose motivation with just taking a bunch of lessons and not using them in anything.

Melinda Zwanziger don't need to worry about that i just only suggest you one thing for now if you are beginning again in coding then focus on the concepts and make codes in them to expertise or understand the concept once you have gone through that then start making projects. In sololearn many things are provided as you mention like courses and challenges Challenges is only for increasing the power to understand the logic in least time if you try to go through the challenges to you will learn something but to do challenges is not important, you just need to make codes and improve your logics and skills by making projects.

Dear Melinda my friend, 1. The coding challenge (also known as Assignments) sometimes requires advanced maths knowledge, so it is very common to find them difficult. 2. The knowledge you will learn in Sololearn can actually be used to solve real life problem, especially with web code. Take for example, I coded a weight converter for myself to use at work: https://code.sololearn.com/W4BLkAy6eqwh/?ref=app 3. Apart from the functional web-app, you can use web page to display what you want the world to know, for example: https://code.sololearn.com/WQs5BiAqzEGm/?ref=app 4. I can see that you are starting the HTML course, can I suggest that when you reach the chapter of a full "my blog" project, please use the Try It Yourselves sample code, and make alterations you like, then set it public as your first public code at Sololearn. Myself and a few friends of us (Richard Mayt, Kishalaya Saha) enjoy greeting new sololearners. 5. Please focus on the HTML course first, after HTML course, learn CSS then javascript😉
