In HTML Which format is best for high quality Web photos?And why?

Among the image file formats you've tagged with your question (gif, jpg, qrl, tif), only gif and jpg are valid (compatible) html format (even if I don't know the "qrl" one)... Anyway, there's a third web valid format for picture: png. And this last is the best for high quality photos, as it's a without loss compressed one, supporting alpha channel and true color mode. Obviously, png is quite heavy than jpg in general, so it mostly depends on your photo definition versus the bandwith requirement... and conversely, gif is the less one, as don't support more than 256 colors (what's too supported by png). In fact, gif is the hisoricaly first one supported in web, but the only one who offered animation possibility ;)

It depend upon the resolution of the photo and the width and height given by you in img tag...
