How much of what I'm learning can I use to be a coder?

I was originally going to school for coding but before my classes could start I found this app. I've been coding for a little while and oh, I know it will take me no time to get much further. I want to know how much of this will I be past and already have learned when my class starts, and how much closer am I to reaching my goal I using this app before going to class?

I think it depends a lot on what and how much you put into practice cause as time passes by you'll be forgetting what you stop using, like let's suppose you learned visual basic but the classes and practices you make are all using java and you continue to program in java for like a year or more, eventually you'll forget a big percentage of the visual basic syntax and programming paradigm
