What statistics are you referring to? Python is popular in its spectrum of careers, and so is C/C++ and Java. Whatever spectrum of development you're talking about determines each language's popularity.

Well, I just read this article: https://pypl.github.io/PYPL.html And got curious what is the trend this time. Because in school, the basic PL they always teach are C and Java.
