If you are using offline jquery then both syntx of linking is have some change like described in below links. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/23556761/problems-getting-jquery-to-work-in-my-browser-chrome

This is the browser support for JQuery, but that's probably not the problem. https://jquery.com/browser-support/ We may be able to help if you can show your code. Maybe you made some mistakes linking the JQuery?
