Person 2 is sad.

Person 3, friend of 2, disagrees with the downvote and downvotes Person 1.

Person 4, friend of 1, sees that 2 and 3 are ganging up on 1. Downvotes everything 2 and 3 posted - that's gonna teach them.

Person 5, friend of 2 and 3, ...

This is because this prevents unwarranted hate from other people just because they gave a downvote.

Platinum Moderators, on the other hand, are experienced members of the community who can be trusted with that info, so that the aforementioned case wouldn't happen
