What do developers do to get new ideas for programs and solutions?

I completed the tutorial, practiced it, but now..I'm stuck, I have nothing to say with the language I learned other than silly little programs for shits and giggles. What can I do to start making serious programs that I can proudly display on my GitHub ?

Take a look if you can contribute to open source projects eg on github

think about what you do in your day and maybe try to automate it

if you dont know what to do then just pick up a book and read and maybe you get inspiration
