Compare function of mathimatics to function of programming. (HELP ME PLEASE)

What does function really means in programming. Is it similar to function found in mathematics?

Hi, good question. I will try to explain how the two functions differ and how they are similar. The two types of functions, math and in programming, are basically the same in that they both take input preform operations and produce an output for later use. That is where the simularity ends. In math the work process is on numbers. In programming the work performed is on numbers or text or a mix of data or files or anything else that might be helpful for a program to operate as desired. A program uses functions to capture input, display output, reconcile conditions, monitor events, or just keep track of time. The previous list is just a sampling of the possibilities. Bringing this post back to function in mathematics. Computer programming can be used to greatly enhance the function of mathematic functions. I hope this helps you.
