What is the best programming language for me to learn?

I am learning Java in college at the moment, but I read online that Python is a very important language to learn at the moment. However, in college my classmates say c++ is the most important language to learn. While our professors say to keep up with Java.

What language you learn initially is usually not very important. Just learn a language and make sure you understand it's concepts, most languages share many similarities and moving over to a new language is a lot easier once you feel sufficient in another. It also depends on what you intend to use your programming skills for, for web development C++ and Java aren't really that important. You get more bang for your buck learning JavaScript and an accompanying back-end language like Python, C# or PHP. For desktop applications I'd go for learning C++ since a lot of languages derive from C++. At the end of the day C++ is a better skill to have than Java.

For reference only: https://www.sololearn.com/post/69481/?ref=app I just checked your profile and noticed that you are starting four courses at the same time. Focus on one language, try to solve some problems with the language. If you go through four courses, but cannot solve one simple problem, means you know no language. As you are learning Java at school, I suggest you to focus on Java at the time being. And for Java, this is a beginner's problem : https://www.sololearn.com/learn/14303/?ref=app
