Java 8 or Java 12? Which I need to choose?

I saw that the Java 12 is coming as license version and for that we need to pay. Is it okay to continue with Java 8 instead moving to Java 12 or do Java will come up with Free Student Copy for the Java 12? If I need to start learning Java 12 directly, how can I install it free? I'm confused! Thank You!

Since I avoid programming in Java, I'm not as current with the latest news regarding Java releases. However, it was my understanding that Java 12 would be released in both OpenJDK (free community license) and Oracle JDK (commercial license). Has this changed? Here are a couple of links I'm referring to: - https://openjdk.java.net/projects/jdk/12/ - https://www.baeldung.com/oracle-jdk-vs-openjdk
