Can AI really have a real personality ?

I was wondering if AI can really have a personality ? Or is the AIs character fully artificial and Isn’t really created by It’s self/ permanent ? Luv to hear others(and better coders lol) thought and opinions ♡.

What is a personality? A collection of unique behaviours based on experience? If so, I would say yes. One could argue we as humans are to some extent preprogrammed from birth with very specific instructions given to us by our parents. I don't see how a sufficiently advanced AI would differ in this regard.

I already think some have "personality" via learned quirks. Not anything meaningful as for as human level sentience or agency. But it shows some potential in the same way people say pacman AI has personality. Its personality around their given task and how they handle it.

At this point, no. The memory processing of a computer is simply far too primitive compared to the human brain. While you see certain areas where machine learning is out performing humans, such as Starcraft etc., it is important to remember these programs are highly specialised and can't be used outside their very strict environment. So while a neural network can be trained to do something unexpected it is based on the very specific instructions given by humans.

That is a pretty philosopical question. I would argue that it will only be what you programm it. Altough because of machine learning it might develop in a different direction then you thought because there might be a bug or something else the programmer didnt think of.
