Machine Learning contains a lot of higher maths, more precisely probability theory.

Even the experts do not really know how it works (regarding deep learning), this is still a big research field.
Of course the main concepts are known, otherwise we couldn't apply it. But precisely describing deep neural networks, it outcomes, dealing with noise, etc, is very hard.
