If you are the beginner I perfer you to study C as C is simplest language. Compared to ruby I think python is good to start.KTU university also prefer to start with python in their B.tech courses . Atlast it depends on u and your interest to learn programmingâ˜ș.

Python uses more direct approach, while Ruby is more flexible (which allows writing the same thing in different ways, but may make it harder to debug). Python in general is more readable and stable and has a bigger community behind it. I think it makes it more adapted for a beginner.

Well I prefer Ruby for its simplicity and flexibility[you can pretty much do and change anything],python has a more direct approach tho, easy to read[i think ruby wins at this tho] plus its simplicity make it so attractive. I think you should learning python first then ruby,if you like it a lot then stick with it else Go with ruby.
