Akshay Biradar One of the obvious difference between Serializable and Externalizable is that Serializable is a marker interface i.e. does not contain any method but Externalizableinterface contains two methods writeExternal() and readExternal(). This difference between Serializable and Externalizable is performance. source: http://www.java67.com/2012/10/difference-between-serializable-vs-externalizable-interface.html?m=1 I hope I was helpful
