What is the future of "Electron" apps?

Electron (https://electronjs.org) is used build cross platform desktop apps using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Many popular softwares like Skype, Slack, VS Code, Atom etc are built with Electron and they are really cool. But I feel it is consuming a lot of memory and if you run many Electron apps on a computer then it starts to slow down. So my question is what is the future of Electron, does it can rectify this and many apps can develop using it?
