Java and python are two of the the most popular language.
If you start with python-it will be easier for you to understand concepts faster.
If you start with java it may get abit tough at first but it will be super easy to understand and learn other languages later.
I personally started with java.

Depends on you.Is good to start with a language that is for general use like Python, Basic, C++, if you like web sites you can start with html and create one.Most popular for general use are JAVA, Python, C++.You should start with one that you feel to understand the most.I started with C++ for general development use and along side with the html for web site development use.

It all depends on your use case the reason why people always tell other people to start of with c or c++ it so you can understand how computer actually works the building blocks or language how compiler works cause of this thing are done manually using c and it said to be believed that if you can write an efficient c program you can be pretty good with any other now c is almost to assemble it low level you no garbage collector you manage your space your self create a variable name assign space it when done with it remove out the space and all of that you don't get helper classes like String Wrappers classes and all you all need to these things your self you have more super control of your hardware you use pointer and all so my point is if you need to understand programming (cores)
