Lets say I want to control the lighting of my house via my phone, which language would I need to learn?

You need to build electronic digital to relay output board to control power on off of the lighting first.

Use a Arduino or Raspberry, write C++ or Python programs to control on off signal of the IO port, connect the its output port to the relay input port.

Connect the raspberry to internet by using network router using wifi or cap5 network cable.

Install nodejs in Raspberry, use Express to build a rest api server, and save data update for the python code.

Write a light control button app program in java/kotlin or react native that communicate with the Raspberry resp api server.
