Before anyone can start coding they must first have an end in mind. This means they know what they want to do. Depending on who you ask, some will say you should look into data structures and algorithms if you can before you apply it to a language. After the individual makes up their mind on where they want to apply their developing skills(Think platforms). The individual will choose a language that can get the job done.
Software depends on your purpose and the language that you decided to go with. After becoming familiar with the language syntax you should apply it to a project. Projects is where most of the experience come from. You'll keep doing projects and you should never stop. Also you should invest into some books or refer to sources like Stackoverflow just to broaden your horizon. It's not going to be done in a short time span so get rid of that thought.
While you're in your journey, find like minded people perhaps. Team up and try to tackle projects together this will build up communication skills. Communication is a very nice skill to have. In the beginning it's not too important but if you're looking for a job *later* then you should be capable of communicating effectively.

I'd start with html then css and javascript. because those seem to be the most basic to learn. as for software all you need to start with is a simple text editor like notepad for instance. and after you're comfortable with the first 3 types of code then just look through the rest and try them out. you can have many different skills in order to apply for a job but if you're referring to one that requires coding experience then you should have a basic knowledge of html in my opinion.
