Why do we need a wrapper class?

I don't get the concept of wapper class in java.

You have your primitives: int, float, etc. They are containers that store a type of data but sometimes it's important to be able to use methods on them. Wrapper class Integer gives you methods to work on an int variable. Primitives are not exactly objects until you use a wrapper class.
