Too advanced CSS / JS

Question

I'm sure it's possible, but don't know how easy it is.
Can we make a pen writing animation using CSS if not JS?

Like this.
It doesn't necessarily have to be letters (a, b, c); so the animation Is like this... Something is drawn where the dot (or element) is moving. Kind of like a footprint.
Example:
1, • (pen)
2, _________•(pen), we just drew a straight line.
Like that.
