Programming is a hobby, like painting or singing.
If you do it right, you can sell your work, the same as a painter sells his art, and a singer his songs.

Programming is problem solving at its core and that is always a useful skill to keep sharp. No matter what you do, every day we face issues which may not have clear solutions and being able to think with an analytical mind can only helps us surmount them.

Bill Gates said that "Everyone should learn how to program computers because it teaches you how to think in real life" .I think you can understand that today we are using software's on computers, banks and also the apps we are using are products of programming itself.
