I would suggest do not compare. Both languages has its own beauty. Both are used at different levels. It depends on need of an hour.

As a programmer you cannot say this is good or that is good, it depends what your project needs. Today your company might be working on Java tomorrow if need aroused, it will start working with python or any other language which is in demand.

You should be flexible enough to learn any language. Moreover once you learn a language you can easily pick other language in no time provided if you are really interested in programming.

And if you want know from which language you should start learning, then both languages are good to go.
You can start with python, install python on your pc/laptop, start with hello world and then basics of language, Sololearn has very good content for beginners. You can follow up and do practice.

Then gradually start implementing OOPS concepts and data structures. This way you can get command over language as well as fundamentals of programming.
