I feel compelled to point out that Python is written in C, not the other way around.
Edit here too: Once a language reaches a certain functional level though...it can be written in itself.

Edit: This doesn't really address your question (can you do anything with C++) but it supports an opinion I have, that C++ is more powerful, while Python is more approachable (effective power in this case may come down to the particular developer's skill). Hopefully others will have some more concrete statements for you.
