What's means the tag em?

This is my first question... sorry if my English isn't good but... The tag <em> is like italic font or something? or for what do you use it?

In HTML: Shows that the text is emphasized. Usually used to display the text within the tags in italics. Same effect is often produced by the <i></i> tags. Note that the <i> tags only italicize the text, but do not give it stress emphasis. <em> also seems to work better for mobile devices.

em is also the mobile designation for image resolution, like px. Don't let that confuse you when you run into it.
