Depends what type of gaming you making. You could do a tic tac toe game with simple js or a complex shooter game (like shellshock.io), but that will require a lot more work and more experience (with sql, vps, php etc)

Well, that would be a very simple code/ game if you only use HTML, i would use JavaScript along with CSS to accomplish the function and feel of it.
