Is calculus important to be a good programmer?and why?

I want to be a programmer. but i don't know calculus.

It all depends on what kind of programmer you aspire to be. If you like creating web pages that merely present content or have a very specific functionality (i.e. Booking movie tickets online), then no, you really don't need calculus. I'm pretty sure basic math will do. However, if what you want to do is perform complex data analysis, graph presentations or - especially - games, then you're more likely than not to require at least some basic understanding of that. All in all, don't think too much into it. This site is great for a "no strings attached" (pun not intended) kind of programming learning. If you find yourself liking it, then go ahead and do it. If you ever need calculus, then just learn it. It's not going to be easy, but if you've reached a point in programming where you absolutely must use calculus, then you're probably not a quitter ;)
