What is the use of XP scores in SoloLearn?
Am I supposed to use the XP scores for any particular thing?

This is mainly for motivation I believe. Self evaluation works up to a point until the challenge storms skew any relevance of this metric. The competitive users will use xp to brag about their rank on the leaderboards. Challenges are the main/only means of getting a high amount of xp in a continuous fashion. HTML challenges are the easiest to gain xp, so you will see many users farm xp this way. It's quite easy to get addicted to the App for challenges for gaining xp. I was too at one stage. Unfortunately xp is not a good indicator of one's coding ability. However, it is unlikely that SL will refactor the xp system as the current system of XP and gamification works in attracting and retaining the largest population of users. If not for challenges, a majority of users will leave after exhausting the other features available on the App IMHO.

It is a trigger to hook you to the app.
It says virtually nothing about the actual skill of a user.

Itâs kind of achievement and encouragement. Itâs like gaining XP points when you play video games. The more you practice coding, interact with the community and involve in lessons, the more points you have, and you will be leveled up. Actually, I think this is a fun way to emerge myself into coding.

It's just something sololearn decided to add to gamify your experience on the app, same with levels, badges, upvotes e.t.c...
