When does one apply for a coding, programming job/career?

I'm curious if one applies for a job once they are comfortable at programming, barely beginning, the basic knowledge, microsoft certified... How did some of you all start?

When you have enough experience to gain work with either certifications, or can provide proof of project to an employer. I'm self taught from 15 (27 now), and don't have the qualifications to prove it however, I can still showcase work to others if their interested. This app can teach you the fundamentals, however there is still more to learn when actually creating projects. I stress this because employers in certain tech fields are interested in the persons logical intuition, or their complexity in thinking, and not necessarily about the languages many others no too - they understand. When you're comfortable, but that shouldn't be so soon for beginners.
