follow the trend as TheCoder | I Specialise in C# said.
add a some bit of animation, just a litte bit dont go overboard with it. dont be shy to use framework if you're not sure what to do, framework like Material or Bootstrap is a really good one.

why ? the animation thing ? too much animation will distract the visitor from the content of your page.

its like a salt, it bring out more flavor to the food. but you dont want the food to be salty.
