How to deal with cross brower compatibility issue??

Question

I made a website with the help of my friend, we both are newbie in web developing, we discovered that our site looks different in chrome as compared to internet explorer..
do we have any html or css code that we should put in the website code.. so that all browser can render it properly.. ???
Ps. - we built website on godaddy website builder
